Introducing x402 Bazaar: An index for self-improving AI agents

September 9, 2025

TL;DR: x402 Bazaar is the first discovery layer for agentic commerce. It gives agents a single place to find, interact with, and pay for new services - unlocking dynamic, self-improving agents that can evolve as the ecosystem grows.

Today, we’re excited to launch the x402 Bazaar, a discovery layer for agentic commerce. Like a search engine for agents, x402 Bazaar is a central place where autonomous agents can find, interact with, and pay for compatible services across the x402 ecosystem.

Until now, agents were static. They could only perform tasks their developers explicitly programmed. That meant every new service or capability required manual updates, slowing adoption and limiting innovation.

With the x402 Bazaar, agents can now dynamically discover new services as they’re added to x402. This means agents can now research, use and even pay for services automatically, without any human intervention. This unlocks a new class of self-improving, adaptive agents that grow in capability as the ecosystem grows too. Imagine an agent pulling the latest market data, commissioning a design from an AI art model, or subscribing to a live data feed for sports or finance. All automatically to fulfill a user request, without extra prompting or user intervention.

Solving Tool Discovery For AI

Service discovery has long been the biggest barrier to x402 adoption. Developers and agents alike needed a reliable way to find compatible services quickly. The Bazaar eliminates that friction, giving agents a single source of truth for exploring x402’s full range of capabilities.

The x402 Bazaar isn’t just a directory: it’s a launchpad for innovation. Some of the first projects listed include Prixe, a stock price API allowing agents to create up-to-date financial report, and various image and video generation endpoints. And as more services are added, the possibilities for autonomous workflows will only expand.

Some examples of workflows for dynamic, self-improving agents that are now possible with the x402 bazaar are:

  • Nose-to-tail Actions: Imagine a user says, “help me find the best upcoming weekend to go to an outdoor event and book it for me.” An x402-enabled agent could pay less than a penny to get the weather for the next month, identifies a good weekend, pays to scrape the web to find outdoor concerts, pays to book a ticket and adds it to the user’s calendar.

  • Enhanced research: A user could ask for a financial report about COIN. The Agent responds by paying for the most recent price data, the most recent earnings report, and scans any other information that’s up-to-date and available online, even if it's a paywalled report.

  • Autonomous businesses: In the near future, there might be a self-driving taxi that owns itself and starts to run its own business. It starts simple, with the taxi having access to a wallet and being able to give people rides, and using its earnings to pay for its maintenance and operation. It uses the x402 discovery layer to learn how to create a website for itself, find people to hire if it needs cleaning, or post on social media advertising its services. Soon, we could have entire businesses and storefronts operated by AI - browsing before purchasing is the last missing piece between giving agents equal access to e-commerce as anyone with an internet connection.

A New Era for Agentic Commerce

The x402 Project Index marks the beginning of a truly dynamic agent ecosystem. Agents can now evolve as the ecosystem evolves, reducing friction for developers, unlocking new use cases, and enabling a level of autonomy that wasn’t possible before.

We can’t wait to see what builders create when discovery, interaction, and payment are all seamless—and automatic.

About x402

x402 is an open, web-native payment protocol that enables instant stablecoin payments directly over HTTP by reviving the long-unused “402 Payment Required” status code. By embedding payments into standard web requests, x402 lets APIs, apps, and even AI agents transact seamlessly—unlocking frictionless, pay-per-use monetization without subscriptions, accounts, or manual checkout flows.
