Its whitepaper mentions that the Crust network is a novel generation of blockchain technology that enables decentralized computing and storage. Decentralized storage enables files to get stored on distinct hosts by allocating the files all over the network without involving any centralized entity. The platform aims to offer cloud solutions and a decentralized storage network for Web3.0 and Web2.0 ecosystems on Polkadot.
The Crust network is an open and fair mechanism that features low-energy consumption and high security. The files that get stored on the platform are encrypted to protect privacy. The Crust is a network with GPoS (Guaranteed proof-of-stake) that makes the network efficient, strong, and safe. Also, the platform seeks to offer an on-chain storage market, known as the decentralized storage market, through which users can place storage orders and upload files within the network. The Crust network platform also offers a storage assurance pool for permanent or customized storage of essential files.
The utilitytoken of the Crust network is CRU which represents the value of the complete network. People can use the token to stake for maintaining the GPoS consensus of the platform. The token is also used by users to pay transaction fees when they utilize the platform. CRU allows users to sell resource services as well as vote and elect on-chain governance mechanisms. CRU also serves as collateral or security to offer resource service.
Crust network is an open-source project that gets funds from DCF (Decentralized cloud foundation). In March 2020, the team launched Crust Alphanet, and in June, Crust Betanet. The platform’s launch took place in 2021.The total supply of CRU tokens is twenty million.
