About Stargate Finance
Stargate is a native asset bridge built on LayerZero that enables cross-chain liquidity transfers. Applications, such as decentralized exchanges (DEXs), can integrate Stargate to facilitate cross-chain transactions at the application level. STG holders can stake their tokens to receive veSTG, the unit of Stargate governance voting power. A user’s veSTG balance decays linearly as the remaining time until the staked or locked STG unlock decreases. One-sixth of non-STG transaction fees (1 bps) are also allocated to veSTG holders.

Stargate Finance (STG) is an omnichain-native asset bridge that strives to address the blockchain trilemma, a concept that suggests a blockchain cannot be decentralized, secure, and fast all at once. STG seeks to simplify cross-chain DeFi transactions, enabling users to transfer and swap their assets between different blockchains, layer-2 networks, and decentralized applications (dApps) almost instantly. Users can also move their assets between different liquidity pools on various DeFi protocols and dApps. The protocol supports transfers between multiple chains including Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, Metis, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Fantom. Additionally, users can supply liquidity pools, stake assets, and farm tokens, and by staking their assets, they can participate in the governance of the Stargate Finance Exchange.
Stargate Finance operates in a unique way compared to some other cross-chain bridges. While others use fractured liquidity, requiring separate pools for tokens that will pass over the bridge, Stargate eliminates this requirement through a lock+mint and burn+redeem mechanism. This mechanism burns the tokens at the source and mints new ones on the destination blockchain, providing instant guaranteed finality and unified liquidity. Stargate also employs an advanced cross-chain bridge mechanism and a balancing algorithm called the delta algorithm to address the bridging trilemma. The native governance and utility token of Stargate Finance is $STG. By staking $STG, token holders receive $veSTG, Stargate's voting escrow token. The protocol uses a time-weighted reward system that increases the amount of $veSTG earned by stakers as they lock it for longer periods.
