PumaPay is the first DeFi payment protocol to facilitate subscription payments and other advanced billing models. It democratizes payments by providing a solution that is permissionless, frictionless, free and open for all. It is known for introducing recurring billing to blockchain via its pioneered technology, the PullPayment Protocol. This tech inverses the direction of crypto transactions to enable a “pull” rather than “push” mechanism. This allows merchants to accept payments by pulling funds from customers’ wallets according to predefined terms. The PumaPay protocol aims to become a network that is governed by its community and not by a single central entity.
The PumaPay protocol enables users to make transactions directly to merchants without having to rely on central financial institutions. PumaPay proposes the creation of the platform Wallets to ensure a seamless experience both online and offline for its users. The PullPayment protocol allows outside input and development. Online and offline components of PullPayment help to develop a variety of models such as recurring payments, top-ups, pay-per-use, as well as executing offline payments.
PMA is the native utility token of the PumaPay network. PMA is an ERC-20 currency designed on the Ethereum network. The token assists in the functions of the PullPayment protocol. The token is a medium of value exchange between platform users and can also be converted into other cryptocurrencies or traditional currencies. The token and its services are designed to allow possibilities to migrate to another network if the community requires it. Besides being the basis for the functionalities of the PumaPay network, the PMA token may also be used for seamless real-world usage such as buying dinner, electricity bill payments, online consultancy, etc.
The whitepaper of PumaPay was released in 2018. PMA is led by CEO Yoav Dror, CTO Aristos Chritofides, CFO Pantelis Foulis, and Chief Blockchain Architect Giorgos Kourtellos.
