e-Radix (EXRD) is a digital asset that serves as a bridge between the Radix and Ethereum networks. It is the wrapped representation of XRD on Ethereum, and it can be exchanged 1:1 with XRD. e-Radix was instantiated in November 2020 on the Ethereum network as an ERC20 token. It is designed to be a permanent link between the two networks, and it is not designed to expire, meaning there is no planned cutoff for swapping between eXRD and XRD. This feature aims to maintain the price parity between the two tokens.

e-Radix operates within the Radix ecosystem, a layer 1 smart contract platform that was developed to decentralize the global financial system. The platform utilizes Scrypto, an intuitive asset-oriented programming language, and the Radix Engine, a programmable "DeFi Engine". These tools, along with Cerberus, a consensus algorithm, aim to provide atomic composability with linear scalability. e-Radix, as a token, serves as a link between the Radix and Ethereum networks, allowing for the exchange of assets between the two.

e-Radix aims to provide a representation of Radix's XRD token within Ethereum's DeFi ecosystem, similar to how wBTC allows for a representation of Bitcoin in the same ecosystem. This functionality aims to allow for the wider distribution of tokens prior to staking commencing as part of Radix's Delegated Proof of Stake system. This process seeks to further decentralize the Radix Public Network. As a wrapped form of XRD, e-Radix also has a maximum possible supply identical to XRD's, which is the maximum number of XRD that can ever be wrapped into eXRD form.

e-Radix is part of the Radix ecosystem, which was founded by Dan Hughes, a UK-based developer who discovered Bitcoin in 2012. After more than nine years of research, testing, and development, Radix aimed to contribute to the world of DeFi. The platform's breakthrough came in 2020 with the creation of Cerberus, a cross-shard atomically composable consensus protocol. The first iteration of the Radix Public Network, "Olympia", went live in July 2021, and the DeFi development language, Scrypto, was released in early access form in December 2021.
