Galxe operates by providing a platform for data curators to contribute credential data, which can be sourced from various on-chain and off-chain sources. The platform rewards curators when their credentials are used in Galxe's Application Modules, Credential Oracle Engine, and Credential API. Galxe also provides developers with tools such as Application Modules, Credential Oracle Engine, and Credential API to leverage credential data to build better products and communities. The GAL token is used within the ecosystem for governance and to pay for application module fees and Galxe Oracle Engine and Galxe Credential API services.
Galxe's infrastructure has a wide range of potential use cases. Developers can utilize Galxe's Application Modules for initiatives such as on-chain achievement tokens, NFT loyalty programs, growth hacking campaigns, gated communities, and customized governance. Additionally, the Credential Oracle Engine and Credential API can be used for more customized use cases such as credit scoring and sybil attack prevention algorithms. Galxe also seeks to build a Web3 DID system that not only provides a multi-chain identity but also allows others to learn more about a user through their past achievements and credentials.
Galxe was co-founded by Harry Zhang and Charles Wayn. Zhang, who serves as the project lead, has a rich history in the tech industry, having co-founded Lino Network and DLive.tv, and served as the head of data product at Club Factory. Wayn, the strategy lead of Project Galaxy, was the co-founder and CEO of DLive.tv and served as the VP of Interactive Entertainment at BitTorrent. Galxe was launched on April 28, 2022, and has since been working to establish a public, collaborative data network that is available to all Web3 developers.
