As per its whitepaper, Divi observed the lack of a digital cryptocurrency that millions of people worldwide can use for everyday transactions. Most currencies failed in achieving this goal and became the store of value. Hence, the team members of the Divi Project developed this network to solve all these issues and create a safe, fast, and cheap digital money space that everyone can use without the government and banks as an intermediary. The network is fully transparent, secured by cryptography, and audited by third-party security professionals. The asset’s features include lottery blocks, atomic exchange and swaps, crypto banking, a one-click masternode system, a multi-coin system, scalability, vaulting, and user-friendly Smart Wallet. Masternode refers to a server with a unique status in the network. The Divi Network operates on a proof of stake based blockchain-consensus method.
DIVI is the utility and governance token of the Divi project that can be minted using PoS consensus protocol with both masternode and staking techniques. DIVI is a community-driven token that runs on the ERC-20 blockchain network. 45% of the DIVI tokens are allocated to masternodes. Besides this, 1% of the token share goes to charity, 7% goes to liquidity exchange and platform support, 9% goes to marketing and development, and 38% goes to stake.
Geoff McCabe (co-founder and CEO), Michael Greenwood (CTO and co-founder), and Nick Saponaro (General Manager and co-founder) released the Divi platform in 2017. The network launched its whitepaper on November 25, 2018.
