"We face a problem today. Science funding is organized nationally, slow, and bureaucratic. Furthermore, it is often controlled by government or large corporations and not the wider Community. SCIENTIA aims to work towards changing that. The ultimate aim of the project is to establish a trust owned by the SCIENTIA Community. The SCIENTIA Trust will support basic research in academia as well as new research-oriented companies. Uniquely, it will participate in research it funded through returns from funded projects. While establishing the Trust is the long-term goal of SCIENTIA, Science and the SCIENTIA Community can already benefit from SCIENTIA via its Token. The SCIENTIA Token is an innovative token that has entered the Crypto space in October 2021. It was launched on the Binance Smart Chain and has been available on secondary markets since November 2021. SCIENTIA Token operated as an elastic supply token for much of its history, but has stopped rebasing at the beginning of 2022 due to a decision made by the SCIENTIA community. To support its goals, a transaction tax of 9.42% is applied to all transactions of the SCIENTIA Token. This transaction tax is split threefold. 3.14% go directly to the liquidity pool. The rest of the transaction tax is divided into 3 buckets: 2.09% go to science funding. At the end of each funding cycle a decision is made on the use of the science funding budget together with the SCIENTIA community. This could be a direct call for projects to be funded or funding via other funding agencies. 2.09% go towards buyback. This is where SCIENTIA returns to its holders, the SCIENTIA community over time. The final 2.09% go towards development and marketing to support the project further and can also be used to compensate the developers for their efforts. Scientia (SCIE) is a cryptocurrency with the unique feature of supporting science and technology. As mentioned in the whitepaper, the token operates on the Binance Smart Chain, which offers speed, a high degree of security, and a decentralized environment. Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is a blockchain network built for running smart contract–based applications. The platform empowers to build a trusted community that works on the experimental novel mechanism called cycling rebase. Rebase increases or decreases the total supply of a given token across all holding pools and wallets. The token launched with an ultimate aim to build recognition of the science community, thereby establishing “Scientia Trust.”
Scientia aspires to revolutionize science and overcome the funding problems controlled by the government and giant corporations. To make funding for science start-ups manageable and fast, Scientia aims to solve the problems of start-ups and science fund seekers. In turn, that increases the token's value due to its buyback policy. Scientia regularly performs buybacks of its investments in this policy by starting other negative rebase phases.
The native token of Scientia is SCIE. SCIE is an elastic supply token that supports the Scientia project, including negative rebase in cycles. The token aims to develop the Scientia Trust that bridges blockchain technology, venture capital, and science funding, thereby becoming a new vehicle for science and tech funding. Therefore, to obtain credit, Scientia has stated the plan to issue three tokens: Scientia Trust I, Scientia Trust II, and Scientia Trust III.
According to the whitepaper, the Scientia token has a decentralized environment that works on rebase cycles. With these cycles, all the profits are used to support science and technology-related start-ups. That is returned to the Scientia community through a regular buyback.
Thus, Scientia is a unique platform that aims to seek transparency by keeping the token holders well-informed, building a robust Scientia community, seeking truth, challenging past ideas, and ultimately, earning a return through supporting innovations.
Scientia was launched in October 2021. The Scientia token was first launched on Binance Smart Chain and is available through a secondary market, i.e., PancakeSwap, since November 2021. Scientia came into existence to solve the biggest problem of science funding managed nationally and completely bureaucratically. Thus, several strategies were developed to overcome the problem.
